Power of the Dreamers

i want to live, truly live
not simply exist;
they tell me that i must
persist
but sometimes i am so exhausted
it hurts to go on—

don't understand why people
are such savages
to other
humans,
did they not remember they could be
something more than monsters?

i only want my hopes and dreams
to be realities,
and i don't think that's a sin;
don't fathom why i should be classed
a villain because i struggle—

is it because they see the power of those
who persevere and seek to
destroy us?

well, our roots are deep in the earth
because we know we need
support and strength from something
inside of ourselves that no one will give us;
we, dreamers, are stronger than we look
having the power and the knowledge that we
are the only we in the universe and we will use our light
to destroy all those who seek to shatter us.
